The day forms part of national Inside Justice Week and the Ministry of Justice is hosting a number of events at the Royal Courts of Justice. The aim of the day is to increase public confidence in the diversity of the judiciary, legal profession and the Justice system as a whole. The Mock trial is free to members of the public and will take place at 11am and 2pm in a working court within the building. A “Jury” will be selected from the audience to deliberate over the evidence and deliver a verdict. The trial should last for approximately 1 hour and 30mins. Professional actors will play the parts of Judge, Council for the Prosecution and Defence, Witness and Defendant. Court proceedings will be followed within the time constraints and evidence will be presented throughout. If you were called for Jury duty - how would you find the Defendant? Guilty or Not Guilty? The case is in your hands. Join us for a Mock Trial at Equality in Justice Day, Royal Courts of Justice, The Strand, 24th October 2008 |
